On Sunday, August 3, 2025, Duplin Christian Outreach Ministries (DCOM) celebrated its 20th anniversary with a program and open house at the DCOM office, located at 514 South Norwood Street in Wallace.
After 20 years, DCOM, which initially opened its doors on July 5, 2005, continues to thrive. Ministries include the Crisis Center, six partnering food pantries, Blessings In Store (a thrift store whose proceeds benefit DCOM), and Feed Our Hungry Children Backpack Ministry.
During the program Phil Gladden, a cofounder of the ministry and current Vice President of the DCOM Board of Directors, shared the history of DCOM and recognized the officers of DCOM and Board of Directors members as well as past and present volunteers. A special thank you was
extended to Dr. Darren Sholar who has provided the office for the ministry rent free since DCOMโs opening in 2005. Rev. James Page, another one of DCOMโs cofounders, was presented with a plaque in recognition of his service to the ministry. Rev. Page was also recognized as a DCOM Board Member Emeritus.
Tomme Maier, DCOMโs new Executive Director, was introduced to the assembled group. Maier provided her initial observations of the ministry and shared her vision for DCOM.
Gladden concluded the program by asking those gathered for their continuing support, prayers, and volunteerism.
Attendees enjoyed visiting on the lawn and refreshments on the porch during the celebration.
